AbsoluteIMU Car Impact with PiStorms Datalogging

6584

Let's have a bit of fun with the new PiStorms data logging examples. Today we use the AbsoluteIMU to capture the acceleration of a LEGO car collision.

We built a simple LEGO car on the PiStorms frame, set up a small ramp, and let it run into a box. Take a look!

The car was built to use as few LEGO pieces as possible so it's easy for anyone to build and replicate this experiment.

Or you could build your own car! The example program, which you can find in the 30-DataVisualization folder, simply plots the 3 axes of acceleration. Try designing your own experiment to measure a different situation.

The program is very similar to the previous pendulum project, only this time we're recording 3 axes of data at once. As with last time we save the final image and data to a csv file.

Let us know about what experiments you do. You can find instructions for submitting a blog post of your own on the main blog page.
