PiStorm white screen

  1. Hi,

I have just bought a PiStorm and for some reason the LCD is completely white (pixels are all white). Motors and sensors are working fine, but I fail to see what needs to be done so the LCD shows the expected buttons.

Previously the same day (first day that I used it), the LCD worked. Few hours later, when I went back to continue working with the PiStorm, the LCD was white.

Any ideas what can be the problem?

Yes, please write to us at support (at) mindsensors.com, we will need more info from you such as version numbers, pictures, etc.

  3. Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

Just a note. I have just managed to have the screen working again. It looks like the rechargable battery discharges really quickly. Hence, when I came back to use it, the battery was probably too low to make it work. I left it plugged-in over the night and it's working fine now. Though for some reason, the moment I use 4 sensors and 4 motors, the PiStorm and RaspPi crashes (goes completely blank).

Can it be an issue with the battery?

It is likely that the running motors are drawing current so much so that the voltage drops below 5 volts, at which point the Pi resets.
Especially simultaneous starting of motors can cause it. Also see if you can reduce the motor speed.

  5. This would make sense... though it happens upon booting. Hence, it cannot be part of a program that I have created.

If I reduce the number of sensors (2), it loads fine and the battery meter shows 8.4V. With 3 or more sensors on, it crashes. It sure reduces what I can do with the robot :(

Which three sensors are you connecting? Are the motors running when it crashes?

  7. The crashing occurs when booting up, after 3-5 seconds after I press the Go button. So no motor is running at that point.

    - There are 2 EV3 touch sensors
    - 1 EV3 US sensor
    - 4 NXT motors
    - 1 picam

  8. Still no idea about the issue?
